Halesi Tour - Halesi Mahadev, also known as Halesi Maratika, is a famous Hindu pilgrimage site located in the Khotang District of eastern Nepal. It is believed to be a sacred place associated with Lord Shiva and is visited by both Hindu and Buddhist pilgrims.
Transportation: You can travel from Kathmandu to Halesi Mahadev either by road via Khurkot or by air.
Kathmandu to Halesi by Road: The road journey from Kathmandu to Halesi by Jeep or by bus is approximately 330 kilometers and can take around 10-12 hours, depending on the road conditions. The route takes you through scenic landscapes and passes through various towns and villages.
Air: If you prefer a faster and more convenient option, you can take a domestic flight from Kathmandu to Lamidanda Airport, which is the nearest airport to Halesi Mahadev. From Lamidanda, you will need to continue your journey by road to reach Halesi Mahadev.
Accommodation: Halesi Mahadev has some basic accommodations available for visitors, including guesthouses and lodges. However, please keep in mind that the facilities might be relatively simple compared to larger cities.
Pilgrimage: Once you arrive at Halesi Mahadev, you can explore the religious and cultural significance of the site. The main attraction is the cave complex, which is believed to be the abode of Lord Shiva. The caves are a significant pilgrimage site for both Hindus and Buddhists. The site also features several monasteries and temples in the surrounding area.
Duration: The duration of the tour can vary depending on your travel preferences. If you choose to travel by road, it may take several days to explore the region thoroughly. On the other hand, if you opt for a flight, you can plan a shorter trip.
Weather: Before planning your trip, it's essential to consider the weather conditions in the region. The best time to visit Halesi Mahadev is during the spring (March to May) and autumn (September to November) when the weather is relatively stable and the skies are clear.
