Kathmandu and Pokhara tour is packaged for those looking for a combination of natural and cultural exposure during their trip. We start the tour by exploring the four of the UNESCO world heritages sites on Kathmandu which includes- Kathmandu Durbar Square, Swayambhu, Pashupatinath and Boudhanath.
We also visit the ancient cities of Patan and Bhaktapur, very well-known for their medieval arts and architecture.
Then we drive in to the hills, following through the deep ‘Trishuli’ river towards Pokhara. Itinerary
Arrival at Kathmandu
Upon arrival at Tribhuvan International Airport in Kathmandu, you will be warmly welcomed by a representative from Skyline Treks. After a brief introduction, you will be transferred to your hotel in a private vehicle. The drive provides your first look of Kathmandu’s lively streets, bustling markets, and unique mix of traditional and modern life.
Once at the hotel, you will check in and have time to relax after your journey. If you have some time before your flight, you can explore the neighbourhood, or you can wander around famous tourist centres like Thamel, noted for its bustling atmosphere, eating places and stores. In the evening, you will be given a brief explanation of your Kathmandu and Pokhara Tour.
Kathmandu Sightseeing
After breakfast at your hotel, your day begins with a guided cultural tour of Kathmandu Valley’s most iconic heritage sites. First you visit Pashupatinath Temple, one of the holiest Hindu temples dedicated to Lord Shiva, along the banks of the sacred Bagmati River. You see the traditional ceremonies, the temple architecture, the spiritual ambience that draws pilgrims from all over the region.
Next, you head to Boudhanath Stupa, one of the largest Buddhist stupas in the world and a major center of Tibetan Buddhism. Surrounded by monasteries and prayer wheels, the area offers a peaceful ambiance where you can witness devotees performing kora (circumambulation) and experience Buddhist culture firsthand.
In the afternoon, you go to Patan Durbar Square, a UNESCO World Heritage Site renowned for its exquisite Newari architecture, old palaces, temples and artistic handicraft. After a full day of cultural exploration, you return to your hotel in Kathmandu.
Kathmandu to Pokhara
After breakfast, you begin your scenic journey from Kathmandu to Pokhara by tourist coach. The drive takes roughly 6-7 hours along the Prithvi Highway, passing through stunning countryside scenery, terraced hills, rivers and small traditional settlements along the way. This road trip is a gentle journey from the cultural hub to Nepal’s most serene lakeside city.
Upon arrival in Pokhara, you continue with a short drive followed by a walk of around 30–45 minutes uphill to reach Sarangkot, one of the most famous viewpoints in Nepal. From here, you can enjoy breathtaking panoramic views of the Annapurna and Dhaulagiri Himalayan ranges, along with the stunning sight of Machhapuchhre (Fishtail Mountain), especially beautiful during sunset.
After enjoying the views, you descend and transfer to your hotel in Pokhara for check-in and relaxation. The evening is free to explore the calm lakeside area, filled with cafes, shops, and a peaceful atmosphere.
Drive to Sarangkot for the best panoramic Annapurna sunrise view then back to Pokhara
Early in the morning, you can enjoy a beautiful sunrise view from Sarangkot, witnessing the golden glow over the Annapurna and Machhapuchhre (Fishtail) Himalayan ranges. After breakfast you travel gently downhill from Sarangkot to Pokhara. It is a 3-4 hour hike depending on your pace.
The walk winds through tranquil towns, terraced farms, forested stretches and vistas overlooking Pokhara Valley and Phewa Lake. The walk is not technically demanding, but it is a refreshing glimpse of rural life and natural beauty, and one of the most enjoyable portions of the trip.
Upon arrival in Pokhara, you check in to your hotel and have the rest of the day free. You may relax by the lakeside, explore cafés, shop for souvenirs, or simply enjoy the calm atmosphere of this beautiful city.
Pokhara To Kathmandu
After breakfast in Pokhara, you begin your return journey to Kathmandu by tourist coach. The drive is around 6-7 hours and follows the magnificent Prithvi Highway, providing stunning views of rivers, terraced hills, rural settlements and distant mountain scenery along the route. The travel is comfortable with short stops for refreshments and rest pauses.
Upon arrival in Kathmandu, you will be transferred to your hotel for check-in. The rest of the day is free for shopping and personal exploration. You may visit popular areas like Thamel or nearby local markets to buy souvenirs such as handicrafts, pashmina, trekking gear, jewelry, thanka paintings, and traditional Nepali goods.
This final evening is also a good opportunity to relax, reflect on your Kathmandu–Pokhara journey, and enjoy the lively atmosphere of the capital city before departure.
Final Departure
After breakfast at your hotel, your Kathmandu and Pokhara Tour comes to an end. Depending on your flight schedule, you may have time for some last-minute packing, a quick walk about the hotel area, or some last-minute souvenir buying in the surrounding markets in Kathmandu.
At the designated time, a representative from Skyline Treks will transfer you to Tribhuvan International Airport for your return flight. The drive to the airport is short, but it is recommended to leave early to avoid traffic delays and ensure smooth check-in and immigration procedures.
