Cholatse Peak, also known as Jobo Lhaptshan, stands proudly in the Khumbu region of the Nepalese Himalaya, offering a majestic challenge to climbers and adventurers alike. Linked to Taboche (6,501m) by an extensive ridge, Cholatse dominates the skyline with its awe-inspiring presence.
The Chola glacier cascades down the eastern face of Cholatse, adding to the mountain’s formidable allure. From the vantage point of Dughla, along the trail to Mount Everest base camp, the imposing north and east faces of Cholatse Expedition command attention, a testament to the mountain’s grandeur.
Below the pass to the east lies a serene lake, lending its name to the mountain itself. In Tibetan, ‘cho’ signifies lake, ‘la’ denotes pass, and ‘tse’ refers to peak, thus Cholatse translates to “lake pass peak” in literal terms.
